Obituary
On January 20, 1929, Antoine Yve Marie was born to Armande (nee Rallon) and Francis Blandin on their homestead located at SE 35 42 21 W2nd. Tony was the eldest of four children. On April 10, 1950 Tony married Esther Schmitz and they remained on the farm in the St. Brieux district. They were blessed with six children Franklin, Marian, Phyllis, Glenn Grant and Rita.
After Tony and Esther sold the farm, Tony enjoyed many years as a grain buyer for the Sask. Wheat Pool. During his years spent with the wheat pool, they moved their family to various small Saskatchewan communities where he forged many life long friendships. After his career with the wheat pool, Tony embarked on a journey of a lifetime with the Co-op Dehy Plant in Zenon Park. His time spent in Zenon Park took him across North America and to Japan where he was very successful in negotiating contracts.
Tony was a leader in his community. He was involved in many service clubs and his church. His passion was his horses - they were always a part of his life...from using them for work, then pleasure for chuck wagon and chariot racing to passing his knowledge and love of horses to his children, grandchildren and great grand children.
Tony and Esther retired to Melfort in 1984. In his retirement he enjoyed organizing many tours, hunting on horse back, playing cards, visiting on coffee row, watching sports, and spending time with his family.
Tony is survived by his five children Franklin (Sherry) Blandin, Marian (Alain) Chabot, Phyllis Turcotte, Grant (Laura) Blandin, Rita (Robin) Grafslund, 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one sister Alice Laurans.
He is predeceased by his loving wife Esther in 1996, his son Glenn in 1975, and son in law Michael Turcotte in 2004.
God was a perpetual anchor in Tony's life. Through tragedy and adversity, Tony never lost his trust in God.
Over the past few days, we have come to learn just how many people have touched dad's life with love and laughter. And for that, we thank you.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at Our Lady of Consolation Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. The celebrant was Fr. Nick Ferreras.
Memorial contributions, in memory of Tony, may be directed to a charity of choice.
