Obituary
Jean was born the fifth child of Jenny and Adolph Simpso
on April 6, 1927 at Weldon. She grew up on the farm
northeast of Weldon and attended school at Buttler.
In 1943 she attended Regina School of Cosmetology and
worked at Edna’s Beauty Shop when she finished.
On November 25, 1945, she married Karsten Sandness.
They made their home on a farm four miles west of
Kinistino where they raised six children.
Her joys were school, community and church activities;
knitting, sewing, gardening and baking. She delighted
when family came home or when friends would pop in
and she would have fresh baking for all to enjoy. She loved
her family dearly and was proud of each and everyone.
After a long illness, Karsten passed away on January 13,
1987. She remained on the farm until her marriage to
Maurice Nelson in October of 1990.
In 2000, she moved to Melfort where she remained until
2012 when she moved to Jubilee lodge in Kinistino.
She is survived by her children Paulette Olexyn (Roy),
Beverly Fidler (Les), Arlene Pogue (Dave), Kelly, Melanie
Jack (Les) and Shelly; 14 grandchildren and 32 great
grandchildren. Sister-in-law Doreen Carfantan and Pearl
Simpso; numerous nieces, nephews and husband Maurice
Nelson and his family.
Memorial contributions in memory of Jean may be directed to the Jubilee Lodge, Kinistino, Sask.
