Obituary
Catherine Margaret Robson passed away peacefully with family at her side on February 25, 2016. She was born September 26, 1919, the youngest of 5 children born to John and Catherine Bethune, a pioneer family of Whittome, Sask.
Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years Lloyd Robson in 1995, son Jack Robson in 1999 and granddaughter Raelene Robson in 2011. Brother Gordon (Ruby), Donald (Flora), sisters Gladys (Henry Fennell), Florence (Ray Fiedelleck).
Margaret is survived by her daughter-in-law Ann (Jack) Robson of Melfort, son Orville (Barbara) Robson of Summerland, BC, son Robert (Joanne Howes) of Melfort and sisters-in-law, Florence (Robson) Doran of Ontario and Audrey Robson of Alberta.
Survived by loving grandchildren, Richelle (Kent) Rogers, Rylee Robson, Nicole (Marc) Solomon, Kimberly (Richard) Hulbert, Shawn (Erin) Robson, Michael (Lindsay) Robson; Great grandchildren, Kody and Kenzie-Rae Rogers, Kaelynne Solomon, Miller and Cedar Robson, Jax, Baron and Lee Robson. Also survived by Bev Bradley, Mom to Shawn and Michael, numerous nieces and nephews, who all claimed to be “her favourite” and many friends.
As a young girl, Margaret played women’s hockey, worked on the West Coast of B.C. as a nanny for a doctor’s family and in a fish packing plant before returning to Melfort. Margaret married Lloyd Robson on November 26, 1944, she took great pride in being a farmer’s wife and raised their 3 boys on the family farm in Melfort, Sk. She kept active in the community with her strong belief in “giving back” and was a member of the Vaughan Homemakers. Family, faith and friends were hallmarks throughout her life. Margaret was a dedicated member of St. James Presbyterian Church, an elder, choir member, church organist and tireless volunteer being a camp cook well into her 80’s at Camp Christopher. Her favourite pastimes were travelling to visit family and friends, she was a “Texas snowbird”, a talented artist, loved music, quilting and driving out to “check the crops”. She was feisty and direct but always kind and fair with a wonderful sense of humour. Margaret will be ever loved, always missed and never forgotten.
