Obituary
Norman Leon Bonk was born in the Melfort union hospital on May 16th, 1960 to Julius and Gladys Bonk. Norman was the fifth born of seven sons. Norman’s childhood was spent on the family farm, east of Kinistino. For Norm growing up on the farm meant helping with all the chores, taking care of the animals, gardening and having lots of joyful memories , those moments shaped Norman instilling his incredible work ethic he lived his life by. Picnics in the pines were much enjoyed as well as boyhood outdoor adventures. After school Norman briefly worked at a mine in Flin Flon Manitoba, fortunately he ended up missing home & moved back to Kinistino where fate would connect him with his best friend & life partner Patsy. Patsy & Norman were married Oct 23rd, 1986. They were blessed with 2 amazing children Amanda Elin (1987) and Garet Norman (1989). Norman was an incredible husband, father, friend and treasured family time. Cars, Norman loved his cars especially older Mustangs and he treasured his 1970 Mustang coup and `69 Mustang fastback. Fishing up at the river and touring around in the pines were another favourite activity. On April 11th 2016 Norman was thrilled as that was the day he became a grandfather, his beautiful grandson Anders Lee Burton, the son of his daughter Amanda & her partner Matt Burton. Amanda, Matt & Anders reside in Nova Scotia and Patsy & Norman will forever cherish their trip to Nova Scotia where they got to meet their grandson for the first time & also Norman got to experience the ocean for the first time, dipping his toes in the cold Atlantic ocean. To say Norman was a special man is an understatement, he embodies all the qualities effortlessly that most men work hard to strive for. Norman loved his family deeply, & was incredibly proud of his children, he was a kind gentle soul who radiated happiness & would literally give the shirt off his back for someone in need. Norm was taken from us very suddenly as the result of a short hard fought battle with cancer, his last moments on earth were spent with the ones he loved most giving him peace as he began his journey to heaven. Norman was predeceased by his father Julius Bonk, mother Gladys Bonk, and sister-in-law Karen Bonk. He is survived by his wife Patsy Bonk, daughter Amanda Bonk (Matt Burton), son Garet Bonk, and grandson Anders Lee Burton, brothers Harold (Isabel), Carmen (Michelle), John (Joyce), Raymond, Terry (Sandra), Kelly (Diane) and many nieces and nephews. We lost a great man, our memories together & his legacy will be cherished forever. His was a life well lived.
