Linda Lennea Johnson was born in Bagley, SK on April 18th, 1936 to Frank and Tina Johnson. Sadly, God called her home on January 15th, 2017 after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Linda attended Carrot River School where she attained her grade eight education. She wanted her independence so she left school and went to work at the creamery for several years. Eventually, she got a job at the Melfort Union Hospital in housekeeping and always took pride that her hospital bed corners kept the sheets so tight on the beds that you could bounce a quarter off them. On June 16th, 1956, she married Lou Bolen, the man she would spend 46 years with. They lived in a 15-foot trailer for 3 years until they could afford to build their first and only home. From the stories Linda told, shingling was her favorite part. As the years passed, they began a family and had three daughters – Lisa, Carla and Brenda. Once her children were in school, Linda went to work with Lou in retail at their business Pineland Feed and Seed for several years. Her work ethic was inspiring, she was like a hummingbird because you couldn’t slow her down and nothing would stop her. Given the chance to go to the lake she would say “Why would I want to sit around at the lake when I could be here working?” The only thing more important to her was the love she had for her family. Many years later, although she was done raising her family, once her grandchildren Curtis and Melissa came along, Linda’s motherly instincts kicked in full force again and she selflessly stepped up to help raise her precious babies. Linda was like a second mother to Curtis and Melissa and spent countless hours helping them to grow into the kind-hearted people they are today. She jumped at every chance she could to spend time with her other two grandchildren Brad and Jeff as well but unfortunately, they lived further away so it made it harder. After retiring from Pineland Feed and Seed Linda helped her girls get set up in their own business and because she couldn’t sit still, she worked there at the flower shop with them for the next 16 years. A third generation kept Linda on her toes when her wisdom of raising babies was needed once again. She spent the next 7 years nurturing and helping to raise her first Great Granddaughter, Ryshae CarLinda whom she had a very special bond with. Linda was the type of woman that was always thinking and doing for others without complaint. She never asked for anything for herself. Linda made the world a better place with her unselfish and compassionate giving nature, her conviction of right from wrong, her quick wit and her love for her fellow man. We all hope that one day we can aspire to live up to her level of class, grace and integrity. She will be forever missed.
