Blanche Elaine (Mooney) Strinholm was born December 6, 1927 to Bill & Olive Mooney. She was raised with her 2 brothers & 1 sister on the farm located in Imperial, SK. Farm life brings with it lots of work that children must participate in. Mom had her chores and her favorite horse to care for. Bill & Olive moved to Saskatoon taking Mom with them. Grampa Bill constructed their home which still stands today. Mom worked in the kitchen at St. Paul’s Hospital until an intriguing ad for a housekeeper came to her attention. This request came from north of Melfort. She was somewhat familiar with the area, due to a relative named Hutton, who’s homestead was across the road from Carl Gottner Strinholm. Employment changed to affection so they were married January 31, 1953. A year and 1/2 later their only child Calvin Carl was born. My mother was a quiet diligent woman who gave great love and encouragement to both Dad & I. The church was of paramount importance to her. Mom & Dad were an integral part of the Brockington Mission Covenant Church and facilitated the move to Melfort in 1957. They continued to worship in this present building till their life’s service was complete. Elaine was predeceased by her husband Gottner, brother Bill (Mattie) Mooney and sister Thelma (Bill) McRae. She is survived by her brother Norman (Cleone) Mooney, her son Calvin (Shari) Strinholm, granddaughter Amy (Adam) Bourassa, great grandchildren Ellie, Tommy & Rowan; granddaughter Rebecca (Michael) Miller, great grandchildren Elijah and Samuel. Numerous nieces and nephews. Elaine went into God’s presence quietly at the supper table in Parkland Place on December 24, 2018. We will greatly miss her. The family would like to extend our gratitude to all those who helped and encouraged Elaine. Those from our Melfort Covenant Church, Caskey Place, Nirvana, Chateau Providence and Parkland Place.
