Obituary
Eileen Vera (Ambler) Storey was born on Aug. 5, 1922 to Norman and Madge Ambler and was raised with her siblings Marguerite (Daisy) & Noreen in Pathlow, Sask. After grade 12, Vera joined the C.W.A.C. and enlisted at Vermillion College that had been converted into a military training centre. After basic training Vera was promoted to Sergeant. Vera also trained soldiers at St. Anne de Bellevue and was discharged in 1945 when the war ended.
Vera married Josh Storey on July 20, 1945 and farmed in the Pathlow district. They were blessed with three children, Beverly, Peggy, and Ab. Family always came first and their family grew with the addition of grandchildren Martine, J.J., Shelby, Justin, Jared, Adam, Jeff, Gillian, Erin, Graham, Michael and 17 great grandchildren.
Vera was dedicated community volunteer and devoted many hours to the Pathlow library, A.C.W. the legion and her children’s athletic and school activities. Vera always had time for all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She cherished all their little gifts of drawings and crafts!
Vera and Josh travelled a lot and enjoyed their fishing trips and house boating with their family and friends. Vera followed the Mustangs religiously and when she and Josh moved to Saskatoon they would listen to the games on the radio as the games were not televised. She loved going to the local ball games and never missed the national base ball games on T.V.! Curling was another passion of Vera’s and long after she no longer could curl, she watched the Scotties Tournament, the Brier and any other curling competitions being televised.
Vera’s devoted faith and daily prayers reinforced her inner strength as her health failed. Vera always said she was ready for the Lord.
Vera is predeceased by her parents, Norman and Madge Ambler, her husband, Josh, her sister Daisy Hulme, brothers-in-law Walter Asplind, Thomas Hulme, Doug Spence, Doug and Zed Storey and nephew Garry Storey.
Memorial contributions in memory of Vera may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion and/or All Saints Anglican Church.
