Ella May was born October 8, 1934 at Carrot River to Harold and Jennie Barks. She had six siblings, Jim, Ray, Jean, Elmer, Bert and Irene. Ella and Victor had five children together: Brian (Sharon), Arvid (Lorri-Anne), Connie (Ray), Debra (Ross) and Barbara. Thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Ella met Alf in 1976, they had forty great years together. They enjoyed camping and gardening. There are many fond memories of family picnics, they made the best meals one could imagine. Alf’s son, Doug (Shirley) were a welcomed addition into the family. Ella worked as a special care aide and housekeeper for many years. She was a hard worker and enjoyed her career. When time allowed, she enjoyed working as a bartender for weddings and special events. After her retirement she supervised children during the noon hour at the Maude Burke School. Ella was a very compassionate person who was willing to help whenever she could, no matter if they were young or elderly. Ella made friends wherever she went and enjoyed conversing with all. She was predeceased by her (Father) Harold, her (Mother) Jennie, (Sister) Irene, (Brother) Ray, and the love of her life Alf Degerness.
