Donald Willis Souter was born in Naicam, Saskatchewan on September 14, 1937 and raised in the Byng district. He was the third of five children of Alexander and Ina Souter (nee Smith). On December 24, 1957 Donald married Alice Mills. They farmed in the Byng district for several years until moving east of Pleasantdale in 1969. Don and Alice had three children: Neal, Dale, and Cheryl. Don was proud of his family and loved them very much, and looked forward to spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. He had many hobbies throughout his life. He enjoyed sports, playing cards, chariot racing, wood working, gardening, coin collecting, and watching westerns. Even after he retired from farming, he was always willing to help his sons with anything that needed to be done on the farm, from repairs to field work. Don passed away on July 9, 2016 at Melfort Union Hospital. Don leaves to mourn his passing his children Neal, Dale (Vicky) and Cheryl (Keith), grandchildren Jacquelynn, Jennifer, Janelle, Jodi, Carly (Edwin) and Brant, great-grandson Hudson, siblings Jim (Nellie) and Betty, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Alex and Ina, his brothers George and William, and his wife Alice. Donald was loved by many people, and will be greatly missed.
