Obituary
Victor was born in Melfort on May 14, 1928, the youngest of three children born to Ernest and Freda Anderson. He grew up on the farm in the Bagley District, and started farming at the age of 16 with his brother Lawrence. He loved the time that he spent with Lawrence and his sister Astrid. He married the love of his life Carroll Aitken on July 24, 1951. During their first year of marriage, they moved to the Bagley homestead where they continued to farm for 64 years. Their marriage was blessed with 4 children, Keith, Trevor, Lana and Clinton. He was an accomplished curler and would later enjoy watching the Brier by a cozy evening fire. He helped in 4-H Club as his kids were growing up, faithfully taking them to horse shows and fairs in the surrounding area. He was instrumental in the creation of Wapiti Ski Valley and was honored with a lifetime pass for his contribution to the community. Victor loved working with his hands. He could build and craft woodworking projects, mechanical overhauls, or design and create whatever project he set his mind to. Each project was undertaken with meticulous and loving intent for the benefit of those he cared for. As a wedding gift, he designed and built individualized bedroom suites for each of his four children. Many hours were spent in the shop maintaining and repairing to keep the farm running smoothly. As hard as he worked, he always took time to enjoy fun time with those near and dear to him. Victor loved to create; he was an inventor of many games that created hours of family fun at the farm. Some of Victor’s most loved activities were spring seeding and seeing the harvest come off each fall, mountain hiking adventures with friends, family quad trips to the pines, and preparing the farmyard with his infamous snowhill for Christmas inner-tubing. In the quiet winter months, he enjoyed making and framing puzzles for the grandchildren, helping Carroll cut the material for quilts and preparing materials for her crafts, and a quiet evening by the fireplace contemplating his design plans for the next addition or renovation to the farm. His greatest pride and joy were his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and the peaceful, fulfilling life on the farm with Carroll. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Carroll of 64 years, their 4 children, 12 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren: son Keith (Sherlayn) of Calgary, children Lisa(Brian) Espenshade of Pennsylvania and children Kaden, Ethan, Bennett, Jennifer Bracken of Melfort and her children Tayla and Emma, Ryan(Ashley) of Calgary; son Trevor(Penny) of Melfort, children James(Annika) of Saskatoon and children Joshua, Brynn, Luke, Lindsay (Alpha) of Vancouver, Nicholas (Amanda) of Saskatoon, Jana (Jeff) Catt and Dillon; daughter Lana (Dylan) Roberts of Melfort, children Chelsey of Saskatoon, Matthew(Michelle) of Martensville, Cassidy ; son Clinton (Laurie) of Melfort, children Cameron (Kristy) of Melfort and Brittany (Teagan) Predeceased by his parents Ernest and Freda(Johnson) Anderson, his brother Lawrence (Rita) Anderson, and his sister Astrid (Verner) Asplind.
