Obituary of Caroline June Holoien
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Caroline June Holoien on July 7, 2023. She was surrounded by the immeasurable love of her children when she peacefully embarked on a new journey, joining her Lord and Saviour. Caroline was predeceased by her loving husband Lester, her parents Jack and Verona; brother, Terry.
Caroline's story began on June 1, 1941, in the embrace of her loving parents, Jack and Verona Grandy, in the picturesque town of Tisdale, SK. Growing up alongside her sister, Adele, and her brothers, Rick and Terry, Caroline experienced love and the enduring strength of family. This is where the importance of love and family began.
During her teenage years, she met a shy young man by the name of Lester Holoien. But it was in May 1962 where their hearts connected. They fell in love and married on March 2, 1963 in Ridgedale, SK. They moved to Melfort and began their life together. They built a life in Melfort, celebrating 56 years of marriage before Lester's passing, leaving a legacy of love etched in their hearts. After Les’ passing, Caroline moved to Red Deer and spent much of the past three years living with her daughter Bobi before moving into Points West Living in Red Deer where she was cared for so well.
Caroline had a strong faith. She and Lester raised their family in this faith. They joined the United Church family and became active and committed members of the church throughout their married life.
Caroline's compassionate spirit led her to pursue a career in nursing. Graduating from Holy Family in Prince Albert, she began a remarkable journey, dedicating her talents to serving others. Her nursing career took her through various areas, including Public Health, Emergency, Acute Care, Maternity, and Long Term Care. Each experience brought her profound fulfillment, and with 45 years of nursing experience, she retired at the age of 65, leaving behind a huge impact on countless lives.
Left behind to honor, cherish and celebrate Caroline's extraordinary life are her three children: Kerry, Leny (Rhae-Ann), and Bobi (Mark). Her love lives on through her cherished grandchildren: Robert (Karleen), Brittany (Cam), Jae-Ann (Kris), Leyton, Jordon (Kyle), and Dustin (Renee). Additionally, her great grandchildren Peyton, Jacob, Henry, Emma, Luke, and Jack continue to carry her legacy. Also left to mourn her passing are her brother Rick (Jill), sister Adele, nieces Carmen, Clarice, Joanna, and nephews Jack, Richard, and Jons.
Cousins, Jerry and Vicki. Caroline's family, including her in-laws Herb (Susan), Doug (Maxine), Darlene, Dianne (Blaine), Evelyn and many special nieces and nephews, and all those fortunate enough to have known and loved her, share in the collective grief of her passing.
Dear Gram, though we shall forever miss your presence, our hearts find solace in the knowledge that you are reunited with the love of your life.
