With the deepest sadness, the family of Luella Dubois announces her peaceful passing on July 26, 2023.
Luella Ruby Dubois was born in Melfort on January 10, 1934, to Sigurd and Signe Emelia (Carlson) Hagen. She was raised at the family homestead in the Horseshoe Bend area north of Kinistino. Luella married Bill Dubois on June 1, 1957. Together they raised their family in Weldon, as well as the farm in the Pahonan/Glen Mary area.
On the farm, Luella enjoyed keeping a small herd of animals, including a milking cow, producing milk and cream for the family and neighbours. She also kept a huge garden on the farm that would no doubt have fed half the neighbours as well! Bill and Luella were avid card players, with many card games with friends going into the wee hours. Luella always enjoyed curling, and especially once her mobility was reduced, loved to watch as much curling on TV as she could, albeit with a suspicious allegiance to Norway and Sweden! She also enjoyed watching the Blue Jays and her very favourite, Heartland. Luella’s greatest joy in life were her children and grandchildren, and many debates ensued about who was her favourite. This extended to her care givers at Birchview, where she also had her favourites…you know who you are!
Luella was predeceased by her husband Bill; daughter Maureen; son Terry; sisters Velma (Vic) Haggstrom, Mabel (John) Barry, Linda (Ray) Johnson, and Laura (Ernest) Hedlund; brothers Wilfred (Violet), Gordon (Jean), and Howard; brother- and sister-in-law John and Shirley Dubois.
She is survived by her sons Darryl, Glen, and Brent; daughters Cindy (Ron), Connie, and Sonja (Dennis); daughter-in-law Marilyn. Grandchildren Rebecca, Jeanette, Maureen, and Carla (Dubois); Travis and Shawn (Dubois); Wayne (Dubois); Ryan, Aaron, and Kara (Lee); Erika, Miles, and Drew (Warkentine).
Also left to cherish her memory are her sister Eileen (Alec) Farkas, her sister-in-law Lillian (Harold) Guy, sister-in-law Suzanne Hagen, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbours.
Luella’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Ika’s Care Home in Prince Albert, and the Birch View Care Home for the loving care she received over the last four years.
Memorial contributions in memory of Luella may be directed to the Birchview Care Home, BirchHills, Sask.
