Obituary of Albert Arthur Mahussier
Please share a memory of Albert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Albert was born to Florida (Fournier) and Henri Mahussier on October 10, 1933. He grew up in a loving home with eight siblings in Pre Ste. Marie near Bjorkdale, SK. Albert went to school in Barrierville, Gravelbourg and Yorkton. After school he worked for Thode Construction and then took over the family farm in Pre Ste. Marie in 1953.
On August 22, 1959 he married Betty Jebson and they raised four children: Michael, Andrew, Denise and Jackie. After Albert’s mom, Florida, passed away, Keith and Joe came to live with them. In 1975 they sold the farm and moved to St. Brieux where Albert became Bourgault Industries’ first salesman. He used his people skills and farming knowledge to set up dealerships all across western Canada. In 1998, Albert retired from Bourgault Industries where he had formed many lifelong friendships throughout his career.
During retirement, Albert enjoyed spending time on the golf course, socializing at the coffee shop, travelling with Betty, family and friends; and spending time with his children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters and many nieces and nephews. Albert had a passion for woodworking and spent many hours building furniture and puttering in his garage and out in the yard. He loved spending time outdoors fishing, canoeing, hunting, and snowmobiling with his friends.
Albert was a people person. Everywhere he went, he loved catching up with friends and meeting new people. Whether hosting family and friends on the farm or in St. Brieux, the door was always open and the coffee pot on. He loved family gatherings and with his wit and sense of humor, was always a central character in the storytelling, music, and laughter. He was also known to pass along a bit of advice every now and then - wanted or not! Throughout his life he was active in the communities where he lived: serving on the school board in Barrierville, and the St. Brieux Lions Club, Regional Park Board and Golf Club. He took pride in his family, community, and pristinely manicured lawn.
He was predeceased by his parents, Henri and Florida; his brothers, Antoine, Louis and Joe Leader; and his sisters, Marie, Rita, Florence and Aurore. He will be remembered by his wife: Betty; his children: Michael (Cindy) - Josie, Shannan, Dani (Landen); Andrew (Linda) - Connor, Carson; Denise - Adam, Justin; Jackie (Clayton) - Olivia; his siblings: Ivone, Henriette, Marjorie (Vardy), Keith; his sister-in-law: Theresa; and his many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions in memory of Albert may be directed to the St. Brieux & District First Responders and/or St. Brieux Manor.
