Obituary of Maurice Lefebvre
Please share a memory of Maurice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maurice (Moe) Lefebvre on July 31,
2024, at the age of 93. Moe was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, cherished
by all who knew him for his warm smile, generous spirit and unwavering dedication to family.
Born on January 21, 1931, in Melfort, Saskatchewan, Moe was the eldest son of Joseph and
Helen (Ede) Lefebvre. He grew up on the family farm near Pathlow with his siblings Simone,
Ken, and Gary. He developed a passion for farming and mechanics. Moe attended Harrievalle
school from grades 1-7, and a residential school in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan for grades 8
and 9. Moe attended high school in Melfort and pursued further education at the University of
Saskatchewan, where he earned an Agricultural certificate in 1950. After completing his
studies, Moe returned to the family farm in Pleasant Valley to work alongside his father
continuing the family’s farming legacy.
On Feb 2, 1953, Moe married the girl down the road, Audrey Dobson. Together they built a
loving home in Pleasant Valley, raising four children: Debra, Linda, Sandra and Dean.
In 1961 Moe ventured out from farming and started Melfort Auto Wreckers. The business
expanded to include a snowmobile dealership, SGI licensing bureau, and Butler bin building.
Eventually he established Lefebvre Distributors Ltd. which focused on Fertilizer and Anhydrous
Ammonia, continuing his support for farming and the agricultural community.
After retiring in 1981, Moe enjoyed his time at the cabin at lake Kipabiskau, Sun Lakes, Arizona
and indulged in his passion for travel. He embraced the opportunity to explore new places and
create lasting memories with his loved ones.
Moe was an active member of his community. He supported his local parish, golf and curling
club, Elks Lodge, radio station and condominium association. His contributions and
involvement were greatly appreciated and left a lasting mark on the community.
Moe is survived by his loving wife Audrey of 71 years. 4 Children, 9 Grandchildren and 15
