In Loving Memory of
Mr. Marshall Earl Rawlings of Beatty, Saskatchewan
Born in Bosanquet Township, Lambton County, Ontario on December 3, 1940.
Passed away in Melfort, Saskatchewan on September 12, 2024
Born again October 7, 1954.
Marshall was raised on a farm along with his sisters and brother, and enjoyed all aspects of that lifestyle. Farming is a theme that would mark his life. He attended Forest High School and enjoyed playing football.
He married Yvonne Taylor on October 8, 1965 and they had two children, Brent and Robin.
He worked in various occupations throughout his life. In the early 1960s he moved to Alberta and worked on a cattle ranch. He was a licensed pipe fitter. He worked at a fertilizer plant for some time. He worked for Shell Canada at the Jumping Pound gas plant west of Calgary before he moved his family to Salem Acres in 1981 where he managed all aspects of the facilities, gardens and farming. In 1994 he and Yvonne moved to Beatty, Saskatchewan where he was employed as a fabricator in a manufacturing shop before retiring. During his time at Beatty, he was trained on the operation of a railway locomotive and enjoyed the trips he made moving railcars. Throughout his time in Beatty, he worked for a local farmer both in the spring and fall, until he was no longer able to due to declining health.
He was an avid fan of the Olympics and especially enjoyed watching track and field. He supported and attended many Melfort Mustangs games and once sang the national anthem. He loved to cheer for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was a fan of the Montreal Canadiens back in the 1970s, especially of the 1976-77 team. He was an accomplished horseshoe player and a crokinole player. He enjoyed fishing. He took tremendous pride in the careful maintenance of his home, his well kept yard and the dozens of flowers planted in his gardens.
He was a faithful Christian: he loved the Lord, the Lord’s Word and the Lord’s people. He was always leader by example in his local church by doing things that needed to be done. He loved to sing hymns and took this passion into the local nursing homes on a regular basis over the years he lived in Beatty.
He enjoyed meeting with “the boys” for coffee in Beatty, three times a week for many years until his health prevented him from continuing
