It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Theresa Mary Weir, who peacefully departed December 27, 2024 at the Rose Garden Hospice, Prince Albert, Sask.
Theresa was born October 9, 1946 to Edward and Gunda Arp in Spalding, Sask. She was one of nine siblings who she shared her early years with Sylvia (Wes) Peterson, John (Agnes) Kambeitz, Alice (Larry) Nelson, Diane (George) Hovdebo, Francis (Doug) Nelson, Doreen (Ivan) Kownaiuk, Edward (Sheri) Arp.
She began her journey in life caring for others often babysitting. She later met and married Frank Weir and together they welcomed three children; Tim Weir of Naicam, Brian Weir of Prince Albert, and Denise (Lyle) of Naicam. After starting their family in Saskatchewan they moved to British Columbia where she worked at Dunkley Lumber for many years. Following her divorce from Frank Theresa returned to Saskatchewan settling in Weldon where she worked at Smitty’s restaurant in Melfort and then the Country Villa in Weldon she then retired. During her retirement she found a loving community at the ChurchView Lodge in Naicam where she spent her final years.
Theresa found joy in life’s simple pleasures, she loved going to Bingo which was her favourite pastime for many years. In later life, she developed a passion for knitting, crocheting and most recently diamond painting, creating pieces that reflect her warmth and creativity. She was a proud grandmother of eight grandchildren; Andrew Weir, Ryan Weir, Craig (Carla) Weir, Ashley Weir, Tyler Weir, Curtis Weir, Shawn Cameron, Jesse Weir. She was also blessed with three great grandchildren; Brooklyn, Leland, Isabelle Weir. Her sister in law Agnes Kambeitz.
She was predeceased by her parents Edward & Gunda Arp, her grandson Tyler Weir. Sisters and brothers in law Sylvia (Wesley) Peterson, Yvonne (Neil) Hemmingson and brother John Kambeitz.
Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, siblings and all who had the privledge of knowing her.
She will be remembered for her kindness, resilience and love she shared with family and community. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
