Obituary
Clarence Allan Carter, born September 21, 1940, was part of the Fairy Glen Community since the age of two. Moving here from Meadow Lake, he and his family settled north of Melfort. He attended school in Fairy Glen and later Moose Jaw trade’s school. Clarence’s early years were tough years but we believe that he became the man he was as a result. He was a kind, compassionate and honest man. He cared for his mother and grandmother until their passing and later his wife, Leona, until her health would no longer allow him to. Clarence married Leona Bower on August 21, 1965. Together they raised two daughters, Connie and Lori. Clarence and his family resided in Fairy Glen where he remained until he was hospitalized. Clarence loved sports. This included fastball, hunting, fishing, football and hockey. He played fastball with the North Star Oil Kings for years until his life got too busy. Nothing could bump hunting and fishing from his life though. Not even cancer! Clarence enjoyed the trips to his hunting cabin whether it was to hunt or hangout with his hunting friends, it didn’t matter. The hunting cabin brought him great peace. Clarence was a life long member of the Carrot River Valley Lutheran Church. Strong in his faith, Clarence was greatly involved in its care and maintenance. His CRV family was very important to him. If you drove around the country side with Clarence he could point out the homes he had done some plumbing in. Clarence was a plumber by trade but his passion was beekeeping. He was an apiarist for over 35 years and because he was so knowledgeable in his occupations, he experienced great success. Clarence and Leona liked to travel in their retirement years. Mexico was the hot spot for them and their friends. Clarence also took up woodworking. He built beautiful sleighs which he either gave away or donated to the Wildlife Federation or the Mustangs for their fundraisers. Hours went into making these sleighs. Clarence’s pride and joy were his grandchildren and his dog, Spike. Attending sporting activities that the kids were involved in was a special event and he will be sincerely missed as #1 ringette grandpa and #1 dance grandpa. Clarence is lovingly remembered by his wife, Leona of 51 years, daughter Connie Carter, daughter Lori Carter (Dan Southam) and their children Jacee and Dannee, step grandson Ryan Woodley and step great grandchildren Rylee and Ryder. He was pre-deceased by his parents Stella and Clarence Carter and parents-in-law Harold and Janet Bower. You are welcome to join the family in wearing your favorite sports jersey to the service. On behalf of the family, we would like to thank you for your friendship, visits, generosity, prayers.
