It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Brenda Lynn Fradette, our daughter, sister, mother and friend. On August 7, 1963, Jim and Betty Stevenson brought home their new daughter, Brenda Lynn to their farm in the Ethelton district. Growing up on the farm and being the eldest of three children, Brenda spent much time with Betty helping out around the house and looking out for her siblings. She enjoyed baking, cooking and playing the piano. In 1985, Brenda accomplished her dream of graduating from the University of Saskatchewan as a registered nurse. She immediately began working at Royal University Hospital and later became a public health nurse in Melfort, where she was known for her compassionate nature and commitment to her work and to her patients. Brenda’s passion for nursing was only exceeded by happiness when her daughter, Elizabeth Dionne Fradette was born in 1990. Brenda balanced nursing and being a mother for many years, until she retired from nursing 1993. The past several years Brenda had been a resident of Parkland Place in Melfort, where she very much appreciated the care she received from the staff. During her time at Parkland, Brenda also valued the support and visits she received from her friends and family. Brenda will be greatly missed by her daughter Elizabeth, her father Jim Stevenson, her sister Kathy Oar (Allen), her brother Murray (Loriann) Stevenson and their families. She was predeceased by her mother Betty Stevenson. Funeral service was held at Melfort United Church on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Emmanuel Menyereye officiating. Interment followed at Flett's Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions, in memory of Brenda, may be directed to Parkland Place Residents Council.
